French Empire Buffet circa 1810. The reigning king at the time, Napoleon Bonaparte was heavily influenced by classical Greek design and columns on furniture were one way this influence spread, four years after this buffet was made Napoleon was exiled. This piece was selected for the rich aged walnut and remarkable patina.
